Getting ready for GDPR

Getting ready for GDPR

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on 25th May 2018. It is a new regulation by which the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union and the European Commission intend to better protect the personal data of EU residents and gives individuals greater control over their personal information. It will replace the current UK Data Protection Act (DPA) 1998.

As a recruitment organisation, this will obviously have an impact on our processes and how we manage and store the data we hold on individuals.

We have already begun a large programme of work to ensure our policies and practices are GDPR-compliant, giving our clients, candidates and supply chain partners confidence. As we currently adhere to and operate under the data protection obligations of the DPA, we already have a very strong foundation in place to meet the more stringent requirements of GDPR.

In the coming months we will be implementing a review of processes and controls, providing further communications about the steps taken and a full employee training programme to ensure that all personal data held for the purpose of providing recruitment services to customers and candidates will be protected and processed in line with the GDPR legislation.
