Finance Analyst

A Finance Analyst required on behalf of a client in the government sector.

This is a permanent role with flexible working arrangements and occasional travel to London.

Role requirements:
• Deliver timely and accurate month-end reporting to support the business in monitoring financial performance and driving efficiencies and actions with consideration to affordability and value for money.
• Provide support to the FP&A Manager during the annual business planning and budgeting processes.
• The role will be expected to contribute to other ad hoc tasks/projects and other continual improvement projects.
• Completion of monthly KPIs and metrics for the Finance team.
• Assist with the completion of the Corporation Annual Report and Accounts (CARA)and other regulatory documents such as MTA.
• Assist with the completion of monthly business scorecards and dashboard.
• Assist with ensuring the integrity of the corporation ledger helping to ensure financial processes are controlled, efficient and effective including continuous improvement of the processes and reporting.
• Ensure the Corporation’s financial controls are maintained through:
    - Monthly SoFP reconciliations, including reconciliation to P&D systems where appropriate. Taking actions where necessary to ensure all reconciling items are investigated and cleared promptly.
    - Monitoring and reporting on compliance with purchasing processes and controls.
    - Taking action to ensure non-compliance with controls and procedures (such a PO breaches) is reduced where appropriate.

Experience and technical skills:
• Some experience of working in a finance environment, and an understanding of the role of finance in supporting business objectives
• Experience of embedding financial awareness within the business
• Previous experience of month end management accounting processes would be beneficial
• Very strong numerical skills
• Experience of working with SAGE 200 is desirable
• Intermediate-advanced level of Excel knowledge
• Basic understanding of pensions and investments.

Education, qualification and professional membership requirements:
• AAT qualified or similar
• Degree qualified or equivalent
